Rise of the Apes - Casting & Story!

The prequel to Planet of the Apes has been announced and casting has begun for Rise of the Apes.

James Franco (Eat Pray Love) was already on board to play the male lead in the flick and now there are 2 more names to add to the list of stars. John Lithgow has been cast as Franco’s father who suffers from Alzheimers and is the inspiration for Franco’s research and work to find a cure for the disease. The second name added is that of Freida Pinto who has been cast to play the female lead in the role of a primatologist who opposes Franco’s research on an ape named Caesar.

It seems that when Franco’s character tests a cure for Alzhemiers on Caesar the ape starts to evolve at an amazing and alarming pace which forces him to bring the primate home to hide and care for him.

Because this is the prequel to Planet of the Apes, and we all know what that looked like, one can only assume that something terrible is going to happen and Caesar and the other apes will turn against the humans.

Rise of the Apes is scheduled for a release date of June 24, 2011.
